Systems research includes network protocols, operating system support for digital audio and video, middleware toolkits, streaming media servers, databases, sensors and actuators, and client/server systems. Media research includes processing, coding, and analysis. Specific research topics include media synchronization, content analysis, content-based retrieval, security, asset management, audio/image/video processing, and compression. Applications research includes end-systems, distributed collaboration, and content capture and authoring.
