Volunteers needed.
Who we are
We are volunteers working on providing a usable site for SIG MM members and other people interested in the field. In creating this site, there is the challenge of providing content, as well as the challenge of providing infrastructure. We, the webteam, concentrate on the infrastructure.
The current infrastructure of the site has been
provided with the help of
- Web Content Editor: Dr. B. Prabhakaran (the Multimedia Systems & Networking Laboratory at The University of Texas at Dallas)
Contact: B. Prabhakaran, bprabhakaran{at}utdallas.edu
- Webmaster : Myunghoon Suk (the Multimedia Systems & Networking Laboratory at The University of Texas at Dallas)
Contact: myunghoon.suk{at}student.utdallas.edu
Our goals
The goal of our work is to provide the infrastructure in order to make this site a successful communication medium. Users should quickly find regions of interest within the site, content providers should be able to provide the content quickly with as little administrative overhead as possible.
What we need: volunteers
We would need some volunteers who help us to improve the site. Possible directions include the following
- Improving the style
- The style you see is out of the box Plone with graphics plus color scheme done by Jeannie Lee. If you'd be interested in making the site look more "artistic" more "media arts" or "multimedia", and you know CSS or you are interested in programming in an environment with strict content/layout separation, then we would be glad to get in contact with you.
- Improving the functionality
- Plone the base of our site is very extensible and immensely powerful. If you'd like to write extensions, we would be glad to get in contact with you. We have plenty of ideas how to extend the site, and we are open to your suggestions.
