Communication TheoryDocument ActionsCommunication Theory discusses the ideas of telling a story, presenting an idea. Since most humans aren't telepathic, we use a series of techniques to be more effective at the idea of communicating the idea through media of various types. This sub-area draws on psychology, art, drama theory for developing interesting story lines, etc. There is another type of communication theory along the lines of Shannon's groundbreaking work. Both of these aspects are fundamental background to a full understanding of multimedia and its influence on our lives

| About ACM SIGMM ACM SIGMM is dedicated to the generation and dissemination of information on multimedia computing, communication, storage, and applications. SIGMM is chartered as a conference-only SIG. Most of the effort and energy is related to the Annual International Conference on Multimedia, along with other conferences which are supported and/or sponsored by SIGMM. The other activities will center around the web site and the mailing list to provide collections of resources for practitioners and researchers.
